Saturday, 22 June is Windrush Day which marks the anniversary of the arrival in the UK of the HMT Empire Windrush with hundreds of passengers from the Caribbean. Stepping off the boat were children, mothers and fathers who became known as the Windrush generation.

Nottingham is celebrating the anniversary and the rich and lasting contribution the Windrush generation has made to the city by raising the Windrush flag on the Council House. A Nottingham Windrush Civic Reception took place at the Council House on Friday 21 June organised by community partners including the Pilgrim Church Charitable Trust.
